AQUAIGNIS SENDAI operates based on the central concepts of “Healing, Dining, Nurturing”. It is located in the coastal area of Sendai, which sustained damage in the Great East Japan Earthquake of 2011. Some of the attractions that can be found in this hotspot include restaurants, cafés, a hot spring, and a market which sells local produce.
Spa
The Fujitsuka-no-Yu is a hot spring that wells up from 1,000 meters below ground. The hot spring water contains sodium chloride and sodium bicarbonate, giving it properties that will make your skin feel smooth and moist after bathing. After spending time in the hot spring, you can rest in the library café which has 500 books or the tatami-floored relaxation space. The underfloor heating which reuses geothermal energy can keep your whole body warm by heating up your feet.
Restaurants
You can enjoy a variety of dishes at Japanese and Italian restaurants, as well as a patisserie, bakery and café, which are curated by acclaimed Japanese chefs such as TSUJIGUCHI Hironobu, HIDAKA Yoshimi, and KASAHARA Masahiro.
Market
The “marché lien” market offers various kinds of foods and products; fresh fruits, vegetables, Japanese sake, and unique local items, etc. “Lien” means “bond” in French. The shop will provide you with a chance to discover interesting local products.
